Tim Ernst is Arkansas’s Wilderness Photographer, known for capturing the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Audubon, Backpacker, Outside, Outdoor Photographer, The New York Times, and many more. He teaches digital photography workshops in the Buffalo River wilderness and has authored over a dozen trail and nature guidebooks, including The Ozark Highlands Trail Guide, Buffalo River Hiking Trails, and Arkansas Waterfalls Guidebook.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Ernst founded and led the Ozark Highlands Trail Association for 28 years, helping contribute hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to trail building and conservation. His service has earned national recognition, including awards from the American Hiking Society, the U.S. Forest Service, and two “Take Pride in America” honors at the White House.

Together with his wife Pam and daughter Amber, Ernst has inspired countless hikers and nature lovers through their guidebooks, which have sold over 100,000 copies and encouraged thousands to explore Arkansas’s trails and wilderness.
