A Walk on the Wild Side: The Joys of Photographing Animals

Join Ron Magill, Nikon Ambassador at the Little Rock Zoo on Thursday May 16, 2024 for a special PRE-EXPO event.  You will want to sign up for this early, as we are limiting the number of attendees.  Your $50 ticket price will include entrance to the zoo, and a presentation by Ron Magill.

Ron has worked with wildlife for over 40 years. He is the host of HITN’s national wildlife documentary program, Mundo Salvaje con Ron Magill.  As Zoo Miami’s “Goodwill Ambassador," he has made frequent television appearances on many programs including,  National Geographic Explorer,  the Discovery Networks, the Today Show,  Good Morning America,  The Late Show,  CBS This Morning, Dateline, and CNN  as well as on Spanish networks Univision and Telemundo. In addition, he has written and produced many wildlife articles and award-winning photographs that have appeared in publications and galleries around the world. He has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Asia and Tropical America while developing and directing conservation projects and Emmy-Award winning documentaries focusing on the wildlife of those regions.

 

  • 12:30PM Meet at the Main Zoo Entrance (Do not come to the Convention Center) – Everyone will meet at the Zoo.

  • 1:00PM    We will enter the Zoo as a group.  (If you arrive after the group enters, you will need to pay to enter the zoo) we will be entering at 1:PM sharp!

  • 1:15PM - 2:15PM   A Walk on the Wild Side: The Joys of Photographing Animals. Ron Magill, Nikon Ambassador

  • Ron will share his vast knowledge of photographing wildlife with an emphasis on Zootography! 

  • 2:15PM – 4:00PM   Hands-On photographing the sights and sounds of the Little Rock Zoo.

ZOO EXCURSION PHOTO CONTEST

  • This contest is open to all that attended the Zoo Excursion with Ron Magill.

  • Photos submitted must be taken at the Zoo, during the event.

  • This contest is all about the animals. 

  • You may submit up to 3 images.

 

The Joys of Photographing Animals

All images must be of Zoo animals, or Zoo related activities.

1st Place      $250 Bedford Gift Card

2nd Place     $175 Bedford Gift Card

  • The photo must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame.

 

  • Images should be in .jpg format, with file size between 3 and 4 MB.  Images can be any size and aspect ratio if they adhere to these maximum file sizes.

  • Simple post processing such as adjusting white balance, exposure, contrast, color vibrancy, saturation, and sharpening. Color or Black & White is acceptable.

 

  • By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by Bedford Camera & Video for advertising purposes.

 

  • The deadline to enter this contest is June 5th, 2024
